Group Dog Training Classes

Practical group training in Brookline for puppies, family dogs, Canine Good Citizen work, real-world skills, and reactive dogs, plus seasonal classes through Wellesley and Belmont Recreation.

The Cooperative Dog offers group dog training classes for puppies, adolescent dogs, adult dogs, and dogs who need more specialized support. Group class options include year-round Brookline programs as well as seasonal community classes taught through Wellesley Recreation and Belmont Recreation.

The best place to start is by choosing the path that fits your dog’s age, training needs, behavior, and your goals for everyday life together.

Choose the Path That Fits Your Dog

Puppy Training Path

For young puppies and their families who want a structured start with social development, handling, household skills, early manners, and real-life learning.

A common path may include:

  • Puppy Foundation Seminar
  • Puppy Foundation 1 Class
  • Puppy Foundation 2 Class
  • Puppy Foundation 3 Class
  • Opportunity Walks
  • CGC Prep Class

Not every puppy will move through every step at the same pace, but this pathway gives many young dogs a strong start for everyday life.

Family Dog Training Path

For adolescent and adult dogs who need stronger everyday manners, better communication, and practical real-life skills at home and out in the world.

A common path may include:

  • Family Dog Seminar
  • Family Dog 1
  • Family Dog 2
  • Family Dog 3
  • Opportunity Walks
  • CGC Prep Class

Some dogs move through this path quickly, while others benefit from spending more time strengthening foundation skills before moving on.

Reactive Dog Training Path

For dogs who struggle around other dogs, people, or other real-world triggers and need a more careful, structured starting point.

A common path may include:

  • Comprehensive behavior consultation
  • 3-, 6-, or 9-session private coaching as needed
  • Rowdy Rovers Intro
  • Rowdy Rovers Ongoing

Not every reactive dog is ready for group work right away. Some dogs begin with private support before moving into a carefully screened class setting.

Behavior Consultation and Coaching Path

For dogs dealing with more serious behavior concerns such as separation anxiety, resource guarding, stranger-directed aggression, dog aggression, or other issues that require a more individualized safety-first plan.

A common path may include:

  • Comprehensive behavior consultation
  • 3-session private coaching plan
  • 6-session private coaching plan
  • 9-session private coaching plan

Some dogs need private support before any group class is appropriate. A consultation helps determine the safest and most productive next step.
