About Opportunity Walks

Opportunity Walks is real-world training on purpose. Instead of practicing skills only indoors or just in one place, we meet in different locations (weather permitting) so you can build attention, calm walking habits, and “check in with your human” skills where distractions actually happen.

This class was designed to prevent leash reactivity by giving you repeated practice guiding your dog along with other people and their dogs. You’ll learn what to do when moments happen on walks, and you’ll get the guidance and repetition so that leash walking challenges don’t have the chance to grow into bigger, more stressful patterns.

Class Info + What to Bring

Attendance + timing

Most group classes meet one hour per week for six weeks unless otherwise noted. Please plan to attend the full series. If you must miss a class, let me know as early as possible.

Vaccinations

Send digital proof of vaccinations before the first class (a veterinary invoice or rescue folder is fine). I don’t keep copies, but I do need to see proof. You may also email documentation in advance.

Equipment

Flat or martingale ID collar + nylon or leather leash (max 8 feet). No chain leashes or Flexi-leads. If your dog wears a harness/head halter/other walking tool, bring it—an ID collar is still required for class.

What to bring

Your dog’s favorite toy, dog food and/or high-value treats cut into tiny pieces, and a treat pouch/fanny pack/carpenter’s apron. Treat ideas: cooked chicken/turkey, freeze-dried liver, sliced hot dogs, or meaty training treats. Puppies can use their regular food as treats.

Dress + family attendance

Wear comfortable shoes and clothes suitable around dogs. No flip-flops or high heels (safety). Family members are welcome. Children may attend when accompanied by an adult.
