Puppy Foundation

(aka puppy kindergarten, puppy k, STAR puppy, puppy socialization)

Get your puppy off to a great start in this class designed for puppies aged 9 to 20 weeks (2 to 4 months). Weekly one hour sessions focus on basic training (sit, down, stand, stay, come, loose leash walking, etc) while addressing the critical issues of puppy development– socialization, house-training, handling, grooming, nipping, chewing and crate/alone-training. Brief play sessions will teach you what is appropriate play and how to interrupt and redirect inappropriate behavior.

Please bring your puppy's vacination records to the first class. Please do NOT feed a meal before any class! This is especially important for puppies that get car sick-- let me know right away if this is the case for your puppy! We will be using food to teach your puppy so, bring your puppy's regular food (or entire meal!) along with some meaty treats that are already or easily broken into tiny pieces. We will also build play into training so bring a toy that your puppy loves.

As for training equipment, your puppy must be wearing a flat nylon or leather ID collar even if you use a harness for walking on leash and a 6 foot nylon or leather leash (no chain OR flexi-leads are allowed in class). Advice on specific equipment will be given on a case by case basis.
